Job Title: TEMP Technician, Distance Learning Program Specialist   

FLSA Status: Temporary/ Irregular Part-Time

Pay Grade:     $24.00/HR

Workdays: Irregular Part-Time (approx. 2.5 days/week)           

Reports To: Director of Data Engineering and Digital Resources         

 

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide remote and virtual distance educational services to school districts, private, and charter school clients.  The role manages the Connect2Texas program for both external providers and schools to schedule and deliver content to LEAs across the nation.  The Distance Learning Specialist role also serves as the Zoom regional program manager for ESC Region 11 employees and all ESC Region 11 LEAs.

            Education/Certification

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Technical certification(s) and/or Associates Degree preferred

 

            Special Knowledge/Skills

• Communicate effectively in written and oral forms
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and collaborative skills with both internal and external clients
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team
• Attention to detail and ability to quickly and appropriately troubleshoot and repair distance learning problems
• Skills and understanding of various teleconferencing, distance learning and computer applications for management and communication purposes
• Above average technology competency levels
• Extensive knowledge of webinars/on-line meeting programs including but not limited to Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet
• Team oriented and desire to work collaboratively with ESC staff and campus/district/charter school personnel

 

 

 

            Experience

• Strong customer service experience troubleshooting videoconferencing technology from a help desk/call center setting
• Successful experience managing a videoconferencing network and supporting H.323/IP connections using various videoconferencing equipment including but not limited to MCUs/bridges, codecs, and software based applications
• Experience supporting webinars/on-line meetings using various programs
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues

• Serve as a representative of ESC Region 11, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
• Work independently to perform scheduling coordination and technical support/problem resolution for Regional Distance Learning Network and Connect2Texas customers
• Provide on-line, face-to-face, and telephone technical support for internal and external customers
• Provide technical assistance for video conference connections
• Assist with the set-up, operation of the video bridges and room based video conferencing systems
• Maintain distance education web pages on the ESC Region 11 and Connect2Texas websites
• Provide necessary/mandated reports in compliance with all grant, legal, licensing/certification requirements, and ESC policy
• Assist in development of programs for ESC Region 11 to promote the use of distance learning as an alternative delivery method for student courses, professional development and meetings
• Promote distance learning and Connect2Texas through presentations, demonstrations, development of promotional materials and communications
• Create and deliver all marketing for Connect2Texas and distance learning including social media, print materials, website, emails, and videos
• Support video production for Connect2Texas content providers
• Present at various events and conferences to promote Connect2Texas and distance learning opportunities
• Coordinate yearly Connect2Texas face-to-face provider meeting
• Recruit and train new Connect2Texas providers
• Keep current knowledge of on-line meeting technology used within ESC Region 11
• Work both independently and as a team member
• Meet deadlines and functions effectively in emergency technological situations
• Test connectivity with sites all over the world and maintain detailed records
• Train and support clients on the use of webinar/on-line meeting tools
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while responding to multiple help desk calls and effectively communicate with non-technical users
• Manage the Zoom license counts and requests annually for ESC Region 11 employees and all ESC Region 11 LEAs
• Possesses above average organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Attend work daily in order to meet the goals and objectives of the ESC
• Performs other duties as assigned

Mental: Public relations and people skills are always required, work with frequent interruptions, and maintain professional composure and confidentiality under stress.

 

Physical: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, ability to move tables and chairs and load/unload boxes and materials. Prolonged use of a computer.

 

Environmental:  Intermittently fast paced, constant interruptions.

 

Evaluation

Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need, and funding.
